This was my first effort with the 135L. Lighting was interesting, as you can see. haha. Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks. The place was packed, so I had limited mobility - I took all of these picks standing on a chair at the back of the venue.

I love the silhouette shots, bro. Very nice.

Question: How did you do the ghosting effect on the last picture? I've been trying to learn how to do that with my XSi... My friend explained how to do it on a Nikon D60... But that didn't help me at all with my Canon..

i have no idea how that happened. i was just in AV mode, wide open and that ended up being a 1/5 second exposure. i had tried purposely earlier to get an interesting slower shutter speed shot of the drummer, but his head was moving too fast and everything was always motion-blurred. i dunno if there was some sort of strobe lighting perhaps that flashed thing times during this exposure, or what.

I like #2, 3 (pity abou the guy in the background for those two), 4 and 7.

On #1 I'd have preferred focus on the singer.
#5 and 8 aren't showing for me.

thanks for your comments. i hope i fixed it so they all show up, but the numbers won't match anymore. all the silhouettes were not done as an artistic choice by me at the time of exposure or in post - the musicians were essentially standing in darkness for most of the show.

Love Caribou, their song Odessa just wont get out of my head!

Great shots too, those lighting situations can be tricky but I think you captured the mood very well!

thanks, it was very tricky conditions. as soon as i walked in, the place was absolutely packed and i noticed the band members were generally standing in darkness.

i ended up just standing on chair at the back of the venue and not moving the entire show. there was also a giant beam blocking my view of the center of the stage which you can see framing the right hand side of a bunch of the shots. so yeah, i was pretty happy with getting any results. and super happy with my first effort with the 5d + 135L it was my first concert using either.
