Anything you like. You can uninstall or leave it on there for a bit.

I keep previous versions on the computer till I am for sure that all the bugs have been worked out of any new version.

Example... I have not only Elements 6, but CS4 AND CS5 on my computer "just in case".

Is there any reason NOT to uninstall it? From what I can tell, you can't use an upgraded catalog in LR2 anyways...

I have Lightroom 2.7 and 3 running and can access the same catalog from either. The only real problem area is in the noise reduction area. 2.X cant recognize the 2010 version. So if you dont update the catalog you are fine.

Mark,

You're kidding about keeping all those previous versions (of Elements etc) right?

LR3 has to upgrade the catalog. The format has changed. What makes you think you're accessing the same catalog from both without upgrading it?

Because I can work on the images in both programs. I did not make a new one in 3, it grabbed what I had in 2.7 on install. 3 says it upgrades, but is it really generating a new catalog rather than really updating it. .

I bet you also keep all your old home appliances (to use at a moments notice) and never throw anything out right? :-) :-)

Ah, yes, it's copying the LR2 catalog and upgrading the copy, just in case you want to go back.

Sorry for the elementary question but does this mean there will be two copies of the catalog sitting on my HDD then?
