I entered this in a weekly, rolling theme contest on another site where a poll is posted and the winner picks a topic for the next week... this week's topic was "Broken".

Well done - you should do well.
I assume the bulb was in the air given lack of shadows.

Thanks... the bulb was on a matte black background. It was lit at about 45 degrees from both the left and the right but with unequal power to give a little bit more dimension. The rest was post processing, burning to give it a "spot lit" effect, etc.
