Skin smoothing - point me in the right direction please

I don't generally like to do much smoothing but I think this could use some reduced texture. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

portraiture...at about middle settings. Could be done much more, but "plasticky" looking.

No sharpening has been applied, unless ACR is doing some despite being told not to. For these kind of shots I always use a mask so that the sharpening is only applied to the eyes, lips and maybe jewelry.

Another idea, though time consuming, is too zoom in 300% and use the spot healing brush and cloning tool to clean it up.

I use GIMP but I believe Photoshop has a similar filter/plugin/etc:

(if this looks acceptable please let me know and I will send you more details and links. on a quick glance it seems to look quite similar to what was achieved with portraiture above)

How does this look? I basically spent a couple hours with the spot healing brush getting the skin smooth enough that I could do a very lightly applied surface blur layer to smooth things out without it looking too plastic.
