This little guy landed on my porch on hung out for a while without protesting me getting in his face with my 70-200mm. I think this is a boring adolescent finch? but I like him anyways.

There aren't any boring birds :D.....this little guy looks like he hasn't been out of the nest very long, that's probably why he didn't mind you right up on him. Cute shots

:-) Thanks, I posted them because I got excited that I finally had a bird that would stay still enough to go the MFD w/ my 200, but then I saw all the eagle/frigate/woodpecker shots posted by other members with their big guns. I'm happy with the way they came out as well as the background.

I agree he looks very young (but well-fed), I am right that this is a baby finch?

Nice captures, very nice sharpness.
One comment, always leave the bird some room in front of him.
It makes it appear as if he has room to move. You can be tighter
on the back side of him, but leave room in the direction of his movement.
Three is fine as you left room there.

You should continue to post more and share.

Great shots. Looks like a little House Finch to me. Put some seeds on the railing if he hangs around. Heck, put some seeds on it anyway for all the birds. :)

Nice work, Daniel. Many of us never get that close, but would dearly love to.

Thanks all - I had put a few feeders on my porch and there has just been a ton of little birds that have been coming to it. They are all young so they don't seem to be bothered by me coming out to snap a few pics. Sometimes they even fall asleep. (Another well-fed baby bird) Plus it drives my cats nuts which makes me laugh.
