I'm sorry they did not show Diane.

By the way here is my schedule for next week. I work nights - Mon, Tues and Wednesday. Thursday I get off early, but may be doing a show with Wild wonders - Friday and Sat. may fall under the same thing - not sure yet. Sunday should be home by 5 (8 your time)

Cool, I will try to be on at the end of the week, only thing is that I'm not sure we'll be around Sunday night till later.

They do put it right over them. They are directing the crane operator on where to go to get things matched up on the inside. The ladder on the inside has to match up with the ladder in the parts already there. Once the part is in the perfect spot, they are the guys that bolt it down before the crane and ropes are allowed to let go. Your right though. NO amount of money could get me to do that job. Hubby said these guys argue over who gets to go up and do it. They seem to really like their job.

Wowza...those guys are amazing then. Thanks for sharing the pics Pea. Didn't you tell me one time that they also replace what was on site before they started making their roads and stuff? That they replant things? And, may I post your link on fb? I know some of my crunchy friends would love to see it.

Hey Jenn...I found this one!

Oh you're bad!

Skrim17 wrote in post #10518369 (external link)
nope, no melon. Do you have a whole foods near you Deb?

You can also do raw sugar, olive oil and a few drops of your favorite essential oils (or a combo of essential oils). Sugar scrubs are FANTASTIC. Deb, if you don't have a whole foods nearby, send me your address in a pm and I'll send you some. :)

Maybe. I'll see what suggestions sound the most promising. Bleach scares me. I don't want to deal with a camera bag that looks like it has Vitiligo.

Sorry, I thought you meant the camera. How about some baking soda in the wash with the bag?

Did anyone else get video from some cruel man making his dog sit in the middle of a river?

Yes, heehee!! I wish mine had been that obedient...Zoe-dots is too darn cute!

You going to get it printed and framed and partner it with shot Dan took a couple years back? Looks like they'd make a good pair.

I agree, except I don't recall the other one, lol!

G'MAE everyone. Think we are going to pull the trigger today. We didn't get the 70-200 mm f/2.8L IS a few weeks back. We decided to wait longer until our profits allowed us to get the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II instead. After doing the books yesterday, we have reached that goal plus some buffer, and free shipping. :D The only thing I want to check is that the direct deposit from SmugMug made our account. It is the first DD and I want to make sure we had all the info correct. I don't know if Curt has set us up for on-line banking on this account yet or not and he was asleep when I wanted to check last night. :|

Wonderful!! Congrats!

My dad the commercial photographer told me my photography sucks. XTi, 20d couple lenses, flash and a tripod going cheap.

Well that stinks...lucky for you that's one opinion. Still doesn't make it easier to hear. :(

On Friday I had to drive one of my clients home as it was HOT and his mom has no car. She usually walks over to pick him up but I offered to drive him.

When he walked onto his front porch a little white cat with black spots arched her back and he bent over and picked her up and smooched all over her, it was adorable and gave me the warm fuzzies. I have to ask the mom next time if I can get a pic of him. She told me once that he gives her a hard time in the morning cause he wants to bring the cat with him to workshop!

Awwww!!

Chet wrote in post #10520849 (external link)
Yes he's got a degree in photography from Michigan State and has been a commercial photographer his whole life. We have binders full of automotive photo's from when we lived in Detroit. He's shot for lots of large company's and at 69 he's full time in house photographer for Penzy's spices.

So, that means he's excellent at the technical points of photography, but how about the creative side? Even if he's great at it, his style is one of many and can be interpreted very differently. Some may not like HIS style and I'm guessing that would be equally difficult for him to hear, but some don't think about that.

morning all....can't seem to beat the sneezies again this morning. Trying not to let it wear me out too quickly, because doggone it, I've got things to do!

He's done good work that's for sure, but the real question to ask is... Do you get enjoyment from photography irrespective of what others think? If the answer is yes, than screw what others think and shoot for yourself.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

One likes to think they are doing at least marginal work. So I enjoyed it when I thought I was at least doing that.

I'm very frustrated by this. It's been bothering me for weeks already.

From what I've seen, you aren't a commercial photographer. You're one of those guys with a big brain that does hi-tech stuff for a living which most of us don't understand at all. Photography is your hobby, a way of recording events in the life of your family and making photos of people and things that you find beautiful and interesting. You do a good job of it, better than some of us here. It makes you happy. Suggest to your dad that he meditate on the difference between communicating in a kind way versus a cruel way, and afterwards to make an appointment for confession.;)

If you're taking pictures to please him, then this is not a good situation. If you're taking them to please yourself, then tell him to go stick it somewhere. Do what you enjoy, and don't measure your success or failures against someone who did it for a living. You don't have the time or resources to devote to it that he did. That doesn't mean it can't be fun for you.

But your basing your opinion on only one review. Granted it's one that stings, but it still is one review.

There is no single definition to what photography should be, as it is different to all of us, just as we are all different from each other.
