G'MAE everyone. Think we are going to pull the trigger today. We didn't get the 70-200 mm f/2.8L IS a few weeks back. We decided to wait longer until our profits allowed us to get the 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II instead. After doing the books yesterday, we have reached that goal plus some buffer, and free shipping. :D The only thing I want to check is that the direct deposit from SmugMug made our account. It is the first DD and I want to make sure we had all the info correct. I don't know if Curt has set us up for on-line banking on this account yet or not and he was asleep when I wanted to check last night. :|

Congrats! and GRRR! LOL.

My dad the commercial photographer told me my photography sucks. XTi, 20d couple lenses, flash and a tripod going cheap.

Chet...

From what I've seen, you aren't a commercial photographer. You're one of those guys with a big brain that does hi-tech stuff for a living which most of us don't understand at all. Photography is your hobby, a way of recording events in the life of your family and making photos of people and things that you find beautiful and interesting. You do a good job of it, better than some of us here. It makes you happy. Suggest to your dad that he meditate on the difference between communicating in a kind way versus a cruel way, and afterwards to make an appointment for confession.;)

I guess my whole life I've been looking for his acceptance. Sure he's floored by my mechanical abilities, but I'm looking for more. You know what I'm saying?

((((Chet , )))))))) the secret to acceptance is to start with you :) Which is good news , You can be who you are and its enough I know for sure your not a mistake

You kids all make good points. This one just hits close to home for me, as my dad is a photographer and I aspired to be a bit like him as a kid.

Wowza...those guys are amazing then. Thanks for sharing the pics Pea. Didn't you tell me one time that they also replace what was on site before they started making their roads and stuff? That they replant things? And, may I post your link on fb? I know some of my crunchy friends would love to see it.

Yes, when they are done erecting all the towers etc... they put everything back the way it was. Replant grass etc... the only thing that will be left are narrow roads to the towers so that the maintenance guys can get to them if they need repair. So many people think that having the towers will chase away wildlife. But as you can see from my antelope and deer shots that isn't true. These animals are not scared much. They wander around down by the office buildings as well. Of course you can't walk up to them and pet them or anything, but they certainly haven't run off because of the people and machinery.

Go ahead and link if you would like, D.:) I have many more sequential shots I could add to the group. But, it will have to wait for a day that my internet is working better.

Chet, while it's always nice to have the approval of our parents, it's not necessary. From the link you provided of your dad's photos, I have to say I like your style better than his. He may do well in commercial photography, but you capture life. I find this much more interesting.

Diane! I was also going to say that the one photo in that gallery of a tractor, shows spreading straw over grass seed. To keep the seeds from blowing away etc... Even though they aren't done erecting towers on this job yet, they are already starting to put things back to it's natural state.
