I just like dressing up :D

Nice! You looked quite dashing!

do you guys find yourselves "hiding" people on FB?

I have a couple of people that I've accepted their friend requests that I don't really know and their posts are crazy (I mean like alcoholic rantings). I'm not talking about anyone in here...lol Anyway, I've hidden them, mostly because I got so much flack for unfriending people...but it makes me wonder does anyone just think FB is so blasted encumbering? I have guilt because I WISH I could unfriend some people but not to hurt them. Just to remove them from my space  Hiding seems so silly. I never look again once they are hidden. But I'm also not out to hurt anyone's feelings.

Anyway, just wanted some feedback. Sometimes the stupid politics of FB makes me feel like Jr. High all over again.

Interesting that you should post this today.... There is one on my friends list that I for the most part ignore his significantly strongly WAAAAAAAY opposite of me status remarks. Well apparently someone unfriended him, and he was indignant... he had the attitude 'how dare you' in regards to the unfriending without explination...

Me.. my view... it's my friends list... and I'll do with it what I want to... I owe NO ONE an explination...

Here was his status that I mentioned above

IF you remove yourself from somebody's page and DONT tell them why... WHAT does that make you? IF I OFFEND YOU... YOU DONT NEED TO BE ON MY PAGE. I say what I mean and MEAN WHAT I SAY.... GOOD DAY!

I mean really... WHATEVER! It is fb for crying out loud...

Skrim17 wrote in post #10522257 (external link)
I hide and unfriend at will without worrying about hurt feelings. If I am unfriending you I wouldn't be particularly interactive with you in real life anyway.

I do too.... Heck I hide a couple of cousins because of their inane drivle... I go check out their page occasionally to see if there is any family news... but mostly I just stay away... LOL

Its the long traditional dress worn by Indian women. Taken off, that complicated dress is, in fact a 9 yard square of cloth.

Saris can be SOOOOOOO beautiful!

It's all in the wrapping!

LOL

Bingo, Neil. Punjab is where my familg hails from. Haven't been back there in a while though - certainly not with the wife. I'll get her over there one day.

As for gifts and crap, even the cousins/uncles/aunts etc. are given gifts from the groom/bride's family. I've been given god knows how many suit shirts, ties and all that jazz from all the weddings I've gone to...

Ironic, that I eloped and we haven't been given a single wedding present...I really pissed off a lot of people by doing things very non-traditional.

Thanks for sharing!!

He just loves me as the fix it guy. I've been doing it since I was 5. I was driving cars home at 12 after he and I would go retrieve them and I would repair them on the side of the road. He would make repairs to lamps and he'd run to get something and I'd fix his shoddy work. He knew I did it too. He has always seen me as Mr. fix it, and tells everyone so. But I'm not so much a fan of being Mr. fix it, you really get taken advantage of by everyone. Family I don't mind so much, especially the folks, but acquaintances or people I work with drive me nuts.

I've always just wanted to be an artist. In a way my technically drawings/renderings make me an artist, but it just doesn't seem the same.

But I must say, thanks to everyones help I'm feeling better.

I'm glad you feel better.

And I will add that Mike often has people asking him to fix their AC or their cars... it became such a chore... so he wasn't 'available' when they needed.... or made them wait... LOL So some of those requests slowed... Then he was laid off... and with many of those acquaintances... he said "I'm unemployed you'll need to pay me for my time and work.":lol::lol::lol: Some of them DID pay... but many did not ask for any more favors... :p

I just checked, and he isn't on my friend's list. But, I honestly don't know if he ever was...

Yeah we were FB friends at one point.

I'd rather come here to keep in touch with you all though. Got to be too hard to follow my local friends with everything going on with POTN people too. ;)

My dad the commercial photographer told me my photography sucks. XTi, 20d couple lenses, flash and a tripod going cheap.

I will comment on this, but in a separate post....

poppie guy wrote in post #10520967 (external link)
From what I've seen, you aren't a commercial photographer. You're one of those guys with a big brain that does hi-tech stuff for a living which most of us don't understand at all. Photography is your hobby, a way of recording events in the life of your family and making photos of people and things that you find beautiful and interesting. You do a good job of it, better than some of us here. It makes you happy. Suggest to your dad that he meditate on the difference between communicating in a kind way versus a cruel way, and afterwards to make an appointment for confession.

Nice, Mike.

I'm helping someone dispose of his photo equipment. He's a smoker, and most of the stuff smells like ashtray. I'm not too concerned about the hardware; that will clean up and lose the smell pretty easily. The two Crumpler bags really wreak, though, and I have them in the garage till I figure out what to do with them.

Have Dollie clean them.

So I have one more question for you guys regarding fb then.

If you have a couple of people that have you blocked (so that you can't see their posts unless they post on your wall) would you remove them too, especially if you aren't close friends with them? I was wondering about this the other day.

and thanks for answering. Sometimes these online things still puzzle me.

Well I decided as I shared with you via PM to poke at an already angry lion.

This 'friend' and I went to middle school and high school together. We have VERY differing views... and he is very staunch what he is and I'm very open minded and willing to listen to all sides... and have a variety of views on a myriad of topics....

That said... This is what I posted as a comment to his fb status rant...   All the other comments on that status update were 'Amen brother' 'you preach it brother' 'some people can't handle the truth' and the like..... so here's what I said...

I will be the dissenting voice... If I choose to unfriend someone, it's my choice, and I don't feel that I owe an explanation. It is only facebook after all...

I consider the vast majority of the people on my 'friend's list' as acquaintances.... If they are TRULY a friend... I will have other avenues of contact with them.

Just like no one should be insulted should I choose to unfriend them... I am likewise not offended when I am unfriended. It's facebook... and it's a social media tool... not a friend maker/breaker.

We are all entitled to our opinions, and how and where we express them is our choice... and how and where we place ourselves in life is also a choice...

hehehehehe

We had a bit of bad news today that we were not expecting. Whilst I was away Norman, one of out two 14 year old cats has been playing with his mouth which has caused some soft tissue damage. T took him to the vets last week and they suggested that he may be having some trouble with his teeth, so an appointment was made for him to go in today, and have his teeth looked at and scraped under a general anesthetic, Unfortunately it is not his teeth, they were simply a symptom of a bone tumor in his skull. The vet has removed the teeth that were lose as a result of the tumor. It is on the top mandible below his eye, all we can do is keep our fingers crossed that it is not a fast growing tumor and ensure that we understand what affect it is having on him. The prognoses is not so good :-(

I am sorry to hear this Neil.

Off to work - see you all later
