I like the first one. Is that dawn or dusk?

The second is too soft for my liking. Are you attempting an HDR? If so the alignment could be a bit off. That is just my opinion of course though!

Overall very nice!

The first one is dusk. On the second image I did attempt an HDR. I think I'm going to go back and process it. The sky bothers me as well as the faded mountains in the background. The full image is sharp so I don't think the alignment is off but low quality jpg compression killed the image a bit.

When I saw the thread title, I tried to picture the shots that would be in the thread.
I liked your first shot, but the second one could have been done better, and while not weak compositionally, is completely unoriginal.
The first one really is great though ;)

I, too, love the first one but I think I would get rid of the single light on the right. I find it distracting. Everything else is just gorgeous! The hotel might pay you for that one. ;)

Nice shot PSP. I was a LL last weekend and was keen to take some night shots but the night I was there we were so tired after our hike that we had a couple of drinks and dinner and by the time it was dark we were alseep. I did manage to get some early morning shots.
