I am needing to shoot a Spartan helmet for a poster and I can't seem to get what I want.

I need a clear ominous look is the best way to describe it. Here is what I have to work with.

7D, 24-70L, 70-200L, 580EX-II, 430EX-II, HONL filters, softboxes/umbrellas

The helmet is stainless steel, obviously highly reflective.

I have been trying to shoot it against a black background because I need it isolated for what I want.

Any ideas? I appreciate any help.

Do you have any grids? Grids might give you a strong look.

No, I have never invested in grids. What is the idea behind that making it stronger?

The grids focus the light and make it more like a spotlight to focus the light. You would get sharp shadows and get a small reflection of the light source.

I see. I will consider a way to do that.

My primary problem is trying to get a "richer" look when the colors are basically black and silver.
