can someone tell me if the flipside 200 will be able to hold my gear, or will i need to get the 300 instead?

40D with Grip
15-85mm
70-200mm F/4 IS
kenko 1.4x tc
430EXii

would be nice if there was room to spare for a battery charger, batteries, a filter or two and a 50mm f/1.8.

I have the 300. It is to small (narrow) for my 70-200 2.8. Not sure how much smaller a f4 is. The 70-200 has to be the lens that is mounted while they are in the bag. There is no room to put it on the side and have another lens mounted.

Thinking of moving tothe 400.

the 200 would fit it pretty much perfectly without much else.

my friend has this bag and he has

- nikon d300 gripped
- sigma 12-24mm
- nikon 80-200mm 2.8
- nikon 50mm 1.8
- nikon sb-800

the 70-200 would have to be mounted on the camera when in the bag.

For my 300, I had a 7D, 28-75, 70-200 f4, 430ex, 50 1.8, charger, batteries. Also had randomm things in the top compartment.

I got the 400 to fit a 7D+Grip as the 300 wasn't deep enough.

The 200 and 300 won't be able to accommodate a gripped body as it’s not deep enough.

I'm a bit surprised that you guys can't fit a gripped body or a 70-200 2.8 lens with another lens attached in a 300.

I have the Flipside 300 and this is what I can fit:

-Gripped 7D with 24-70L attached, hood reversed
-70-200 2.8 IS lens on the side, hood reversed
-10-22 lens on the bottom
-580EXII underneath the top divider
-Rocket blower & lens hood for my 10-22 above the 580EXII divider
-Camera sling in a divider right next to my gripped 7D

Albeit a fairly tight squeeze, but everything fits and everyones happy. Zippers close easily without fuss. You can sub out the rocket blower for something else as my 10-22 lens could fit there as well (the zippers get a tad tighter if I put a lens on top of my 580, but it's not to the point where I have to force anything yet). If I ditch the 10-22 lens hood & rocket blower, I can fit a 17-40L or 85mm 1.8 or something of similar size without any problems.

My 7D & 24-70L are at Canon being cleaned right now, so I don't have it in there as a model, but I've used it like this without any problems. Excuse the pic as it's from my phone.

I don't have a 200 so I can't comment, but you should have no problems fitting your gear in a 300.

I myself own the Flipside 300 and it would be the one that I would recommend to you based on your setup. I can carry pretty much the Nikon equivalent of your gear.

-Nikon D90 w/ MB-D80 grip
-18-70mm
-80-200mm f/2.8D
-50mm f/1.8
-SB-800 flash
-charger, batteries, memory cards, etc.

Look at the Flipside 400. It will fit the body with grip and room to grow.
I can carry my 7D gripped along with all lenses minus the 100-400 L and 580 EX flash all day long. Very comfortable and well built.

The only way I could fit my gripped 7D in the 300 was to take out the pad that a non-gripped body sits on. Even then the hot shoe was creating a somewhat sharp point against my back when wearing the pack because it was still too tall. I have the 400 and everything fits fine with room left over for extras.

I might have been thinking of my 400. I don't use those bags much, only when I go hiking which unfortunately isn't very often anymore. When I do use them I take the 400 if I keep the grip on and the 300 if I'm trying to go lightweight and leave the grip at home. I use a ThinkTank UD70 for my everyday bag because I didn't like the fact I couldn't remove or tuck in the hip belt on the 400 and it tended to get in the way a lot.

Def go with the 300! I love mine and could easily carry the gear you mentioned in it!

This isn't accurate. I carry a gripped 50D in my 300 (CF card door facing up, hot shoe facing the side of the bag) with no problem at all.
