American coot in nest

I found this coot's nest. now i hope i can be there when they lay their eggs, and the younglings hatch.

Very nice shot. Amazing that you could get that close to one. They are pretty skittish here.

it wasn't too hard getting close. I would take a few steps forward, the bird would then look at me, I would look away into the distance so as to not look like a predator. Then after a few minutes, take another few steps forward.
