quick help on post processing

I have been enlisted to take photos of a bride getting ready before the "real" paid professional arrives. Trouble is I'm mostly a photo journalist and don't often do much in post to my pictures.

I'd like to turn over some nice looking pics to bride. Should I purchase the new photoshop elements? Stick to using my very basic photo editing software? I shoot raw.

Opinions welcome.

I should add that the person the bride hired to do this flaked...I'd be doing her a favor.

Unless you are willing to learn photoshop, I'd stick to what you are already comfortable with.

As a photo journalist I'd say you are perfect to document the day. Just do what you do naturally. It will be fine.

Good call. Long term plan is to take a class on post processing. Shooting raw leaves my pics needing a color boost. I will just adjust that in my simple editor and give her minimally processed stuff.

You don't say what software you're using.

Canon's DPP is quite capable and will most likely do everything you need, particularly if you download the latest version (I think it's still 3.8 ).

I use it for my raw processing, cropping, resizing, etc. even though I have Photoshop CS4. Most of the time I never have to go to CS4...
