Patience Has Run Out on Sigma 85

Yes, I did purchase a used one (UW code) from a fellow POTNer. I couldn't wait for the sigma's 85 actual review. I hope I won't regret this move.

But for now... I am so excited.

The L won't drop it price because of another brand, so If the reviews are positive, you will likely be able to sell your new lens for zero loss.

It may have been the smart thing to do...

yah i dont think there is anything to regret here either. If you like the Sigma later the L will hold its value.

On a side note, how do you like owning both the 100L and 135L

im on board with you OP, i couldnt wait either. altho all i got was the mk 1...haha

I only get to use the 100L for close ups/macro shots which is not very often. Most of the time, I find myself grabbing the 35 & 135. I certainly get a lot of keepers now when using the 100L vs non IS (shaky hands)

Glad I am not alone.

The 85L Mark I is no slouch. I love mine to death - would absolutely be the last lens to go.

Just think how it would ruin your signature

You guys are funny! It made me think how happy my husband was when I stopped buying Coach bags. I told him I am not into "bags" anymore... and he was like, "That is the best news ever"!

I dont know if this has been covered yet, but it looks like the siggy 85 is gonna run a cool 900 bucks. still half the price of the L and 1/3 stop slower...time will tell if there is value there or if the canon 1.8 will be the better option.

Good choice for now. I have a Zeiss 85 ZE and wouldn't mind an equivalent IQ with good AF. I'm waiting for juries decision on the Sigma,

IMHO, Sigma should have up the ante with OS in the new 85. That, would have had me on the pre-order list.

can somebody buy sigma 85mm and review it here?
