I was a Carbonite user for a couple years. I ditched it for JungleDisk & Amazon S3. It costs me more but I have a lot more control.

It's a similar service but just happens to be the one I chose and so far works great. It does take forever for the initial upload, but that's the same for any online service. The peace of mind of knowing that my house can burn down is well worth the nominal cost. Sign up now before you actually need it. Hello, my name is BEN

Although the upload can be slow, I have found it to well worth it. I have uploaded over 500gb and has taken me most of that time to complete the backup. I still use 2 external drives for backup at the house. Despite the fact it will take you a year to backup up 1.5 tb, it is time well spent to have a automatic backup that is offsite. Body: 5DMKIII

There's no way i'd want to upload all my data to the cloud, it's 1GB+ and growing constantly. With Amazon though you can ship them a disk.
