EDIT: I'm making this edit now to stop (or at least stem) various issues from getting out of hand and to keep the thread on track. So instead of the original question why not tell me your personal dream equipment!? (Just for 'fun' eh?)

Just a few stipulations on what it will all be utilised for though:

1. Canon stuff only
2. Must be the best in terms of optics, so 'L' lenses all the way

Things that will be covered with the equipment:

1. Interior (rooms) video tours as well, so things like fluid video heads etc
2. Sport (golfing photography of people playing golf, so need to keep a healthy distance)
3. Product/food photography (for a resurant)
4. Events (such as wedding fairs, fashion shows and charity events)
5. Weddings
6. Other video

So there it is, fire away lol!

(Remember just what you feel is what you would use, this is open to amatuer and professionals alike)

Well if we're talking about someone who knows how to use a camera using them....easy.

Canon 1D Mark IV and Canon 5D Mark II as backup -- gives 2 cameras that can accomplish anything. I'd say maybe the 7D over the 5D Mark II but most of the "Sport" things you'll probably be wanting to capture should be slow enough that the 5D's slightly slower focusing system won't be a problem. Plus, this allows for a full-frame backup.

Lenses:
70-200mm f/2.8L IS Mark II
135mm f/2.0L
100mm f/2.8L Macro IS
85mm f/1.2L
50mm f/1.2L
35mm f/1.4L
14mm f/2.8L Mark II
16-35mm f/2.8L Mark II
100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS
600mm f/4L IS

That should cover every base. A lot of people get all of the primes (or at least the main 3: 35mm, 85mm, 135mm) but since you'll be needing them for such a wide range of things...they're all good.

Now like I said, maybe you'll want to get the 1DMkIV and a 7D instead. Those are the 2 fastest focusing cameras Canon sells and the 7D has the second-highest burst rate. It's a crop sensor so it'll make all of those zooms a little bit farther (great for longer-range utilities).

As for Tripod...anything that costs a lot lol honestly any big name Tripod will do a great job.

Throw in a 1.4 and 2x teleconverter for the mid/long zooms and 600 and I'd say that's about right. Would just stick with the original body recommendations of 1D Mk IV and 5D II; not really any reason to go with the 7D if price isn't an obstacle. Then you'd have the 1D for your action shots, etc and the 5D for your events/architecture shots, etc.

If you're going to have that kind of gear you might as well develop the elitist attitude that only primes are worth shooting with and that you'll never be as happy with digital as you were with film.

Also, you might want to consider personal protection while traveling with this much gear. For instance....where are you gonna be, say next week? :)

Ok well this needs another thread, why? well lets just say i now have an almost unlimted budget to buy in photographic equipment! This is all going to be for a luxury (and i mean luxury) hotel spa.

Yes that could include things like hasselblads but i feel they are not going be terribly useful after one or two uses, need things that are more general use perhaps.

So a few stipulations to pick the 'dream equipment' really!:

1. Canon stuff only
2. Must be the best, so L lenses all the way
3. Tripods needed for both video and photo

Things that will be covered with the equipment:

1. Interior (rooms) video tours as well, so im guessing tripods with fluid video heads etc?
2. Sport (golfing photography of people playing golf, so need to keep a healthy distance)
3. product/food photography (for a resurant)
4. events (such as wedding fairs, fashion shows and charity events)
5. weddings
6. other video

So there it is! fire away lol!

can you buy me a 5DII and send it over? I currently have a broken 40d :(

WOWWWW,
do you have one for 7D?
btw did you just think that up or did you get it off a website,.
THANKS for this (:

I'm pretty sure he has that list in his head. Because besides the 600L, The list is pretty much the most popular lens in canon line up that people gets when they get FF. May be 24L and 24-70 should be in there as well,

WoW, I wish I were you. As for bodies I'd get a 1D mark IV and wait for the 1Ds mark IV which will come out soon. The FF would be good for weddings, events, room photos and product photos. And the 1D is the best thing for sports.

Now as for lenses the following are what you definitely need:

- 16-35 f/2.8L II - weddings on 1D
- 70-200 f/2.8L IS II - weddings on FF, sports on 1D, and fashion shoots on both
- 14 f/2.8L II - wide angle for room photos
- 100 Macro f/2.8L IS - product photos

Then you can get any other lens you like, so a great big zoom (if you feel that 200mm is not enough for golf), or some primes for better indoor work. Also if you don't feel like you need a great AF system and higher fps, you could get a 5D mark II instead of the 1Ds mark IV, but if you have unlimited budget, than there's nothing wrong with getting the best cameras in the market.

Oh, and you'll need a powerful PC with plenty of hard drives. And don't forget to get some flashes, you'll need them for events.
