Throw in some 580EX IIs and/or lights too. You'll need it for product shots. Maybe the rumored 700EX. :)

oh man. On an unlimited budget (like I won the lotto kind of budget) I would get the following:

4x 580 EXII + a bunch of Manfrotto light stands and elinchrom umbrellas and elinchrom skyports and probably a whole whack of other lighting stuff... im sure if i knew more about lighting and equipment related i would list other stuff, lol.

For tripods just close your eyes and buy any $600+ tripod and head combo and get two of them.

I would also get an external mic for video sound.... again just close your eyes and pick the one that is $500, lol.

I would get the biggest Pelican case for all the gear... im assuming i would need three of the biggest ones to fit all this gear!

1x Canon 1DIV.
1x Canon 1DsIV (when it comes out, get a 5D2 until then)
4x spare canon batteries

1x Canon 14L
1x Canon 17 TS-E
1x Canon 24L II
1x Canon 35L
1x Canon 50L
1x Canon 85L
1x Canon 100L
1x Canon 135L
1x Canon 200L F/2
1x Canon 400 F/2.8
1X Canon 600 F/4.0
1X Canon 24-70L
1x Canon 70-200L F/2.8 II

Oh and lastly hire a couple body guards to safeguard you and the gear when moving around with it.

^^^^ That should do it, LOL!!!!

April fools day was over two months ago.

Aside from the more obvious things that point to "BS Thread" to me..like how businesses are really run, let's assume for argument's sake that such a "dream job" exists..no budget, etc.

Who gets such a job? Someone who has the talent and know how to the degree that they need to advice of others here on what to get? Even down to what kind of tripods etc.? The whole thing smells like week old unrefrigerated fish. I generally don't even look at how many posts a member has, but to start off with "I'm Superman...what do I need to do the job?"...LOL

Oh..yeah...this is the guy that wondered how much a Canon mount cost for a third party lens. He wondered because a guy in a camera store told him that he couldn't use anything but a Canon lens on a Canon body.

A true expert, and someone I'd certainly give a blank check to for buying photo equipment if I could afford to have Bill Gates shine my shoes! :)

Never used a 50mm lens, just a 35 prime on "his" 5D ? Wants to know which is better for video? I've never heard of any lens that lends itself to all around use better than a lens of different focal lengths. I don't use a screwdriver to cut lumber, but maybe some people do and know more than I do

LOL

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Wow, what a nice picture! You must have a really great camera!

Wow, what a complete ass! nice for you to happy for me eh?

Your acerbic attitude is so obviously apparrent, you post above doesnt 'smell' of jelously at all does it?

Perhaps if the question was "what is YOUR idea of dream equipment" rather than what was posted, if this offends you?

you better second check with your boss about how unlimited your budget really is..

Believe me, its healthy...

By 'unlimited' it means what is 'neccessary', not for me to go and buy needless things at 30k a pop, yeah? but 'whatever it takes' is the budget.

And another thing, for you wellwishers (sarcasm) its not MY equipment, i dont get to keep it, its the bosses. Do you understand a little more now? there is no need to be arrogant here, not only a violation of the rules here but also makes you look childish.

I agree 100% with the above. Re-reading the other two threads started by the OP is really good for a hearty laugh or two. Either they are meant to be jokes or the manager of the "business" has no clue.

Sorry but no, i posted about a few things i wasnt entirely up on, things ive never needed or required to know about (such as FF comaptibility with specific equipment). The area of work im moving into requires a different array of equipment which until now i've NEVER required or needed have prior knowledge of.

I'm sure all this behaviour this is all just out of jealousy, but i state once again that this is not going to be MY own equipment, so please can you perhaps leave the arrogance and condescedning attitudes out of your replies?

...or better yet don't reply at all.

Well if we're talking about someone who knows how to use a camera using them....easy.

Canon 1D Mark IV and Canon 5D Mark II as backup -- gives 2 cameras that can accomplish anything.

As a matter of interest, why do you discount the 1Ds Mk III ?

The 1Ds Mark III is one body ive already got on my 'Personal List', FF, matches the 5DMk2's 21.1 MP and will be better for sports related photography. I do not think the mark 4 will be required (not when the 5DMk2 is on the list as well)

I also have another backup camera which is a 40d for those occasions extra reach is required. (already owned) However this could easily be a 50D/7D if needs be. (7D might have some useful video functionality along with the video on the 5DMk2)

I would like a 5d Mkii and possibly change my 70-200 for a mkii - for the rest see signature.
Oh yes - add a T90 to my FD gear!

Jealousy? LOL..:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

If the last paragraph made sense in English perhaps I'd have attempted to respond, but it doesn't, so I'll move on....

No my friend, no "jealousy"...it's experience. Over 40 years of it with a BA degree for a slight bit longer than that (got busy in Vietnam for a while) in the business you claim you will be "running" for a hotel.

If 5% of what you said added up I'd give you the benefit of the doubt. But you're not close to 5%..You are at virtually zero percent.

The very term "dream equipment" itself is ridiculous. If it's a pinhole camera made with a cardboard shoe box, then that's the "dream" equipment for that particular project. If it's a large format view camera, then again, that's the "dream equipment" for THAT project.

A professional uses the right tool for the right job. Not what he thinks he'd like to own for his (or her) private use. But far more importantly a professional doesn't ask for opinions of anonymous forum members on what to buy.....a halfway competent pro would know.

Good luck...I hope for your sake I'm wrong and you have some "fairy god mother" (or equivalent) who is giving you a virtual blank check to buy depreciating assets for a company that has far better alternatives to produce infinitely better results by hiring professionals with the right equipment rather than.....well, your questions speak volumes about your own abilities and experience.

I have previously mentioned that i already have a list of my equipment, so much so that i am able to go buy it at any point. I asked here (not to brag) but rather to get peoples experience, such as your own extensive experience as to what is the best.

Why?

For example: interiors.

I know what body, what lens and what flash equipment i will be using and want to buy (i already have flashes, lights, remotes) however as stipulate in my lists a photographer specialising in interiors for x amount of years might suggest and alternative and the reasons for them. That’s what i wanted from this thread, personal opinion, amateurs and professionals (such as yourself) alike. I’m not saying i will go with any of your suggestions but this is why I’m asking to get a broad view of what you guys think is best to use and why, i have my own reasons for my own list I’ve made.

Incidentally my personal list took a good few weeks to work out (and is still being finalised now), it’s not something that’s being undertook lightly. Ive deliberately left out my own experience and what i specialise in photographically for various reasons, i will tell you however that ive been trained to use medium format/large format/bellows system, using hasselblad (h3d) on location as well as aptus 75 digital back, assisted various photographers for many years undertaking interiors/weddings/portraits/sports i've had input/work featured in galleries and exhibitions and i've had a good deal of experience on my own (albeit nothing on your 40 years of experience, props to you there sir)

So lets keep things light and fun, yes?

I’m only asking opinions on what you would buy for specific circumstances. Yes I’m well aware there is no such things as definitive 'dream equipment' but I’m not really asking for that I’m asking for your own informed opinions as to what you would use, what it would be and why.

Are we cool?
