Great photo. It immediately reminded me of this famous photograph. I'm not sure if you're familiar with it or not. The first image is what he got the first day he visited, then he returned and captured the second image the next day. With the train crossing the bridge and the man carrying whatever it is wrapped under that paper. It would be kind of cool if you caught someone walking across the frame like that, or even had a friend dress in the same clothes and carrying the same package. Regardless, great shot.

Edit: not sure how that other quote got in this post, removed

Awesome. I like seeing something other than the usual first world metropolis cityscape here. This reminds me of the photos my Spanish teacher in high school would show during "foreign language week". Since it was already a foreign language class he took the opportunity to teach us about the world we didn't see growing up in suburban DC. Back during the civil war, he would spend his summer's in El Salvador (their civil war) helping the impoverished with basic needs. For example, they would breakdown a sewing machine and smuggle it into the country. Putting plastic parts in their underwear or taped to their legs/arms under their clothes, metal parts in his shaving kit, etc. Then they would reassemble it and teach the people how to sew and fix their clothes. He showed us his slides from that trip, and taught us how to build a shanty. How you would select the corner of the shanty that was towards the river, and dig down that corner so you could wash your waste away out of the home. That was your toilet... you slept & ate in the opposite corner of the shanty. One of the best teachers I've ever had, exposing us to the living conditions we would never see otherwise. It's incredible how even in what we would consider squalor, there are many levels of quality. These shanties are way bigger than the one I was just describing, a single room, dirt floor shanty next to what became a sewage line instead of a clean river.

Yes, DUMBO is in Brooklyn and stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. That is the Manhattan Bridge and the Empire State Building is framed by it in the bottom of the image. It's a tremendous shot.
