Built to commemorate the Irish men who lost their lives fighting for the British army in the second Boer War it is also know as Traitor's Gate for the same reason. Out of curiosity I searched the history of this monument - it seems to have survived all the political upheaval surrounding it from those troubled times. Ray-P

Are those tram tracks in the road? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fusiliers%27_Arch Thank you. Glad it survived as it is a very nice feature of my favourite park in Dublin. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lastblackdog/

I did have have a picture of Nelson's Pillar and a few shots from the top - but I can't find it. I returned a year later and it wasn't even a pile of rubble. Ray-P

They did bring me to see the rubble though. ߤðߤ https://www.flickr.com/photos/lastblackdog/

The 16mm lens helped a lot. https://www.flickr.com/photos/lastblackdog/
