Sad because I am helping a buddy out who doesn't have the money to pay a professional photographer, and it will be experience for me in a field of photography that I have been curious about, but not gotten to try my hand at yet?

I'm excited and nervous at the same time. Hopefully it won't be as scary as I am thinking, and I will have fun doing it. Just first time jitters..

Yes, you're quite the the photographic philanthropist.

I am assuming you are saying it because you think I am taking a job from a "real" wedding photog. I am only doing it because my friend is on a very tight budget. It was either me do it, or just count on guests at the wedding with point and shoots. A professional photog was NEVER in the mix for this wedding. Besides that, what is so wrong with me expanding my horizons and giving it a try? I just don't understand why some people have to throw negative posts into a thread like this. I came on asking for some help. If you'd like to help out somebody "learning the ropes" so to speak, great.. if not, why bother posting at all?

We are going to find out next weekend though! golfingguy27 wrote in post #10394376 I told them that I make no promises because this is my first try, and that I definately don't feel like I am ready for it. That being said, they are both good friends and I don't want to let them down! golfingguy27 wrote in post #10395663 I unfortuneately only have one body to use golfingguy27 wrote in post #10398183 Hopefully the wedding Gods smile on me and they both are cooperative/easy to deal with settings. golfingguy27 wrote in post #10403586 By the way, is it normal that it's only Monday and I am already nervous/stressed about the wedding Friday night? I should be fine, but I don't want to mess up on my buddy's big night... I guess there's just too many warning signs there for me.

I'm not trying to be a pro here (yet). This is a hobby for me. I'm still confused as to why you had to make the negative comment. I readily admit that I am far from qualified to take a paying wedding job at this point, but we all need to start somewhere right? Or did you just pick up a camera one day and go out and shoot your first wedding and get excellent results? I am taking the opportunity to help out a friend hopefully get some better pictures than he would if I wasn't there. Hopefully along the way I will have some fun and maybe learn a thing or two that may help me somewhere down the road. What is it that I am doing that makes you sad? You still haven't explained what I did to ruin your night...

Just thought it was un called for. Anyway, the wedding is coming up fast (this Friday evening), and I am getting excited. I'm anxious to see what I can do. Hopefully they will be happy with whatever results I get. I know they will be easier to please than I will be to please myself.
