Hey all. Still getting into this video recording aspect but I cant for the life of me find any dolly or slider tracks in the UK for use without paying over the £1500 mark.

I know it will be pricey for an affordable system but anyone got any advice on where would be the best place to look in the UK. Would it be best just building my own system?

www.glidetrack.com (external link)

He's based out of UK. Or you can build one on your own that is the same design as his but without the machined feet.

Totally perfect! Many thanks for that link. Really wish I had the time to make my own but that seems to be the biggest killer at the moment. Time sucks. :(

Yeah the glidetrack has been worth every penny. quality build too.
I'd actually picked my glidetrack up from where Alastair from Glidetrack is based. He let me try it out and stuff beforehand.
Top bloke.

Got any video samples? Where abouts is he based? I am tempted to do the same thing. Maybe pm me his location just incase he gets millions. What length rail did you opt for. I'm tempted by the 2 meter for cars but not sure if 1m will be enough

I use the 1 meter and think it's perfect. I don't shoot cars enough to justify lugging that long of a rail around all the time but I guess it'd depend on what you were shooting frequently.

and some pvc pipe (or large garden hose if you don't put too much weight on it, and hose is filled with water)

Probably the best type of DIY/premade combo for a track system.

This link helped build my one http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=145701 (external link).
Cost me less than a £130.00 for the carriage, 1 1/2 meter slider and drilling the holes.

Its what i used for this music video -

But if you can't be bothered to make one, then you can just by the already made one from www.glidetrack.com (external link)

I saw that video, looked good. Saw a couple last night via YouTube so it looks promising.

I might just start off with the 1m and decide on what to do after that.

What part of London do you live at? I can always show you mine if you live close to camberwell Green.

I live around Harrow but work around that area or Kingston. To be honest, I am just going to order a GT. Not enough hours in my day.

The only difference between the finished sliders, and the base components you can buy from Igus is the fancy plastic feet they attach (at least as far as I can tell)

What you'd need to make your own, if purchased from Igus (these are USD prices)

WS-16-60 Drylin 'W' rail 1000mm= $103.38
WW-16-60-10 Drylin 'W' carriage= $54.65
and for an extra $18, they can also tap the carriage so its ready for a head

I ordered mine from Kristen at Igus - kcrowell@igus.com (external link) - she was very helpful

I'm lucky to have a friend who's a Design/Tech student, so he's going to make me one for me :)

 Wish I had friends like that. Out of all of them, im that design/tech guy :(

Had a quick chat wit the guys from GT, the longest they have currently made is 4 meters. Way too tempting but at that length/price, I would want something that packs away into individual tracks.
