A couple of Yellow-headed blackbird shots from my Summer lake NWR visit last week. Comments and critiques are welcome.

Very nice shots. These guys are very beautiful, but they can't sing for beans. :)

It wouldn't matter to me if they could sing or not......I just wish we had some of them down this way. Very nicely done et.

I love the look you get in that second shot. Cute! We have some down south of here, about 2 hours drive. I might take a trip down there and see them. Last time I was there years ago I had a short lens. Nice shots ET.

Thanks, Mitch! I found out that these birds can't sing when I was there last week. I didn't know much about them before my last visit, and when I first heard them, I thought something was dying or being hurt. Then I realized it was just one of these birds "singing". :)

Thank you, dbriz! Yelow-headed blackbirds are nesting at this time, and they are not very shy as they are protecting nests. I was in my car when I took these pictures. The bird was about 3-4 ft from my car. I just rolled down the window and snapped a few photos. :)

Thanks, Steve! The bird was very cooperative and it seems that it had a nest close by, so it must have been keeping an eye on it. It posed for me for about 1-2 minutes, before if flew away.
