I'm sure when using RRS L Plate with a battery grip on a tripod, it's a great combo but, how does it feel/comfort when you handhold the camera with the L plate on? (It looks bit bulky on the left side)

For those who have the L plate with the battery grip, do you keep your plate on or just use the plate when tripod is required?

Not sure about the RRS plate but it shouldn't be too much different than the Kirk plate I'm using. I like it because it sort of rounds out the grip profile so it doesn't feel so squared-off. Any arca-swiss plate should be better than the manfrotto RC2 plate I was using before.

I use my tripod maybe 5% of the time I'm shooting, yet I have RRS L brackets on all four of my DSLRs, all of which are gripped. It's easier to leave the brackets on all the time than to remove them for non-tripod shooting.

I use a couple of different Black Rapid straps for carrying the cameras and I have modified them to work with the L brackets.

Why would it be an issue? You don't hold the left side of your camera, do you? I hope you don't, anyhow.

It depends on how much you use your tripod i guess. I don't use it very much (only on specific outings) so I only put it on before those outings.. Otherwise, it just seems a bit uncomfortable to me. They're so quick to get on and off, I don't see the point of leaving them on unless, of course, you're doing a wedding or something and are using a tripod quite often. The RRS L plates are pretty awesome.. just try it out and see if it bothers you leaving it on..

I don't use a tripod a lot but I leave the RRS L plates on all my cameras all the time.

I have a battery grip and RRS l-plate. It's not bad and only gripe I have is it's increased size when placing it back in the bag. I do leave it on all of the time because it would be hard to store and install each time I needed the tripod. I use a tripod about 50% of my shooting.

Thanks for all the response.

I want to make sure it doesn't get in my way, heavier than what it is (I hand hold my 70-200L IS Mark II) and it's not too bulky to fit in my current bags.
