This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new editing tricks.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture, re-sized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being re-sized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #294".

this game will end Thursday, June 24th, at 7:30 pm CST.

Friends Wedding I shot a Year ago Sunday. Happy 1 Year Anniversary to her, they are expecting in a few months ;)

Opened in Camera RAW. Recovery on a couple of bits and adjustment brush to lighten the darkest shadows. Opened in CS4. Levels, contrast and vibrance adjustments. Shadow/highlight adjustment layer, darkened down grass and trees that went too light. Lightened two pairs of eyes. HIgh pass sharpening, stroke in white and black. Flatten.

My friends wedding was my 1 and only wedding I ever shot... it was a gift, she asked me to... I learned alot that day ;) LOL... poor souls w/ raccoon eyes facing into the sun w/ busy forest backgrounds (is all I had to work with) & I KNEW better with the sun... but so much to think about when you are right down to it... aaah well, she had a GREAT day & she loved her photos in the end

cccc - I like how you brought everyone out from the shadows
jb2u - although creative, it seems abit blown out on my screen, I am on a new laptop tho, so I could be wrong.
NigelD - you brought everyone out from the shadows wonderfully, but on my screen they seem oversaturated?
Pallidum - Nice seperation of the men from the background & excellent decision to get rid of that tree.

I'm going to give this one to cccc, take it away.

& when I do these I like to show how I edited the photo... if this is how she received it or not I'm not sure... I've been through a computer since then & this was what I had on my external HD as the edit but I know I edited each photo a few times... anyway... looks 'ok' to me for what I had to work with :) One thing I noticed I did differently than everyone else, is dress wrinkles I tend to smooth those kind of things out.

Well done cccc.

I like your final version Lore - you're right - mine was oversaturated a bit.

It appears that cccc has not been on POTN in 2 days. I hope all is well.

In an effort to keep the game running, I think the best thing to do is to pick a runner up, Pallidum take it away!
