With massive sadness I've just sold my 85L as although it was my best lens it was my least used lens. Boo hoo :(

Hmm, now to decide what to get... 135L or 70-200L... Is the f/2.8 mkII *that* good??? :)

It was great, absolutely amazing but mostly too long indoors but not long enough when out with the kids.

I would go for the 135L and if you need more reach then add a 1.4x TC in there.

I know you said 85mm wasn't long enough so you would likely at-least want to get a 135mm lens.... but if your okay with a bit shorter then consider the 100L as well. Amazing lens just like the 135L.

From what I have seen and heard, yes the new 70-200 is THAT good. I would get that. Its true that you can add a converter to a 135, but dude, the 70-200 looks just as sharp as the 135. Plus you have a versatile zoom .

Sorry to hear that, but if it isn't used, you might as well sell it.
I won't suggest a replacement lens, but I will suggest this:
just to be on the safe side, google map the location of your nearest methadone clinic.
I anticipate some serious bouts of one-point-two withdrawal over the next few weeks. ;)

Don't know how old you kids are, but I found my 70-200/2.8 way too big and heavy to manage while having to also manage 1 and 3 yr olds. So sold it. What I have now is the 70-200/4 which I like a lot better and f/4 is still fast enough most of the time, and if it isn't fast enough then even 2.8 is marginal too. So next up for me is either the 100/2 or the 135L. Will probably get the 100 since I prefer the slightly shorter focal length at the moment, but will probably get the 135L eventually too.

The 70-200 2.8 II is that good. It's a blast to use.

Easy, get the 135 and use the money saved from the 70-200 to go on vacation so you can take some pics.

With this statement, then 70-200 should be your weapon of choice.

...but not long enough when out with the kids.

And neither will the 135L be on your camera's format. 200mm f/2.8 is a good choice.

You should get the 70-200!
The 70-200 2.8 IS Mark II Is really THAT good. You'll love that lens if you like the focal length. I regret not using mine enough because the 85Lii does more for my needs.
