First time shooting lightning. Didn't realize I forgot my tripod until I was already at the location... so I shot this hand-held and got lucky. 1/6 of a second I think.

Anyway... as the title reads, I was aiming for that 'doom and gloom' look. Apocalypse type stuff. Think I got it.

C&C insisted.

Dramatic it certainly is. How close were you for heavens sake? Could you feel the hairs on the back of your kneck stand up?

Maybe a couple of miles or so? This was taken with the wide angle.

That is both doomy and gloomy, very apocalyptic! Nice capture, but next time bring your tipod!

You definitely captured an apocalyptic look, despite leaving your Manfrotto LightningRod 100X at home (which might've been for the better!).
