Purchased a 5D Mark 2 :o

Went to the Beijing Photography Equipment City today (BIG mistake) but no one took credit card so I walked out with a few business cards of retailers there and their prices scribbled onto the cards (started at 23,000RMB and made my way down to 16,400RMB). Got back to our hotel and spent the next hour bartering with the three stores of which one was able to come to a fair price roughly 500RMB over the cheapest price I got at the photo mall. Now my 7D has a companion to sleep in the Tilopa with and my 17mm TS-E feels right at home on the 5D2 :)

Would've liked to buy in Canada but we get back the day the $500 rebate ends in Canada so it's far cheaper to buy here!

Feels great, full frame is such a difference especially with the 17mm. The weirdest thing for me to get used to is the sound of the shutter though coming from a 1D3 and a 7D it's pretty noisy!

you're going to need to say 50 "Hail Canon"s.

Great story. I've been so tempted to purchase a 5D2 but I'm waiting for the holiday round-up to see what kicks.

I have the 5D2 and 7D combo and they are wonderful. I can't decide which to pick up sometimes. Congrats!

I really like the two and think I'll keep the 7D for sports/action and use the 5D for my landscapes and walkabout stuff. After walking around Beijing today with the 24-70 attached it feels so nice to see everything in the frame and not have to wrestle with the crop factor in some of the really tight streets here. Looking forward to taking it out to the Forbidden City tomorrow and Tian'anmen Square :)

One gripe I will say is I've been spoiled by the 7D's ease of live view and video mode dials. Wish the 5D2 had the same interface but it's hardly a showstopper for me!

Yes, I take video with the 7D only. Canon, whenever it happens, will have to add that feature to the new FF cameras. It's so much easier.

Guess I'll post the first few shots from the 5D2 today :D Sorry there's no ducks, the only ones I could find in Beijing were roasted and hanging in the window haha.
