Here are some more Pied-billed Grebe photos from a week ago. I've cloned out a couple of weeds in several of these to cleanup the water.

Canon 40D, Sigma 50-500mm on Induro Carbonfibre tripod.

1. Mirror image

4. Quite a long neck - Not the normal pose here. I wish that the bird hadn't been moving so quickly because the reflection got distorted.

Wonderful to see these little chicks. #2 stands out for me because it's a little darker, and the reflection is very nice. Well done Stephen!

Terrific shots Stephen... I always maintain that the Grebes are the cutest bird on the water... and these images exemplify that theory perfectly...

Thanks Steve. I can still play with the exposure with some of these but we had heavy overcast to full sun during shooting that morning.

Thanks Dave. I've been very fortunate this year to have photogrpahed 3 families in the same man-made flood pond after having never gotten close this species before.
