This kind of topic seems to come up fairly often so I figured I'd kick off a poll to collect peoples thoughts on this.

Actually, if you look this is a 3 part poll. This first reflects how much memory you normally carry with you in the field.

The second part reflects how many cards you carry. Do you prefer one or two larger cards, or a bag full of smaller ones.

The thrid part reflects whether or not you use field backup. Either you don't, you carry a portable device, or just go the whole hog and carry a laptop.

Depends on the job required for the day. Some days, I carry just one card with me but on average 2 cards per camera with backup drive.

I have a 4gb MicroDrive and plan on getting another 4gb MC or 6gb MD.

I prefer a lot of smaller ones

I use a laptop to transfer images @ the end of the photo shoot

Okay, six 1gb compactflash cards. When on a long trip I take along my iBook and even an external HD if I'm really concerned about backup.

Works for me!

4GB, 2GB, 1GB here. I carry a laptop with me on trips for backup. It stays in the hotel though. I also backup all my RAW files for each month to DVD.
