So I just took my camera out of my bag and I heard something rattling around. Took the lens cap off and this is what I saw:

QUOTED IMAGE

:(

I'm just happy it wasn't the front element. No scratches to the front element that I can see. Still bummed though, because $50 for a new filter is a bit much for me now. Guess I'll have to be more careful.

I think it takes a lot more force to break a front element than it does a filter. Front elements are a lot thicker and probably better tempered. Filters are pretty thin by comparison.

I think I'd be more afraid of scratches on the front element from a broken filter than I would any damage a filter might prevent. A lens cap and/or hood make more sense.

Nice pics Mike. I love the intensity of the carve. :)

Thanks JJ! At first she was very apprehensive about touching the pumpkin, but then she started cleaning it out and eventually I showed her how to use my saw to carve out her shapes. I had to finish off the cuts but she designed and carved the majority of it all by herself. :)

Like you need us to age you Mike?

Actually, I think POTN Years = Dog Years! ;)

No, I certainly don't need any more help in the aging department!

LR3 is the Shizzle...

Probably 95% of my "magic"comes straight out of LR!

The other 5% comes from some other place. :(

Lookin' pretty decent so far. Clearly I need to start building a library of presets and such.
