Too cold. Low 80s is fine if your in for a swim, but I like to just float around and then it gets chilly. 90 is perfect, you can stay in for a long time without getting chilled.

I've got two small kids, what is this "float around" that you speak of?

I just didn't want to go to Mt Washington during leaf peeping season again...traffic was horrendous. This time around, there wasn't any at all :D

Although leaf peeping time is beautiful. This year, i'll pop over to the BIL's place in lake george.

We actually had a pool in NY....where you could use it maybe 3 months out of the year....now we live in a spot where you could use it 7 months, maybe 8 and we don't have one.

We don't heat our pool. During the hottest months, Ma Nature does a very good job without help from the Gas Company. On the hottest days, the pool will get up into the high 90's without any problem. We had one stretch a couple years ago where the water temp was just over 100ºF. It seems to be largely a function of how cool it gets during the night.

I'm not short. I'm concentrated awesome!

I have a solar heater though right now I am not pumping water through it. Later in the summer it helps quite a bit.

Even with a solar heater....if our pool in NY ever got much over 75 it was a miracle.

We actually have a spray bar at one end that's intended to evaporatively cool our pool when used.

Does it work? Or does it just mean you have to refill your pool more often?

I've never run it long enough to see how it affects the entire pool but it's fun to sit under sometimes.

We have an auto-leveler that "drips" water in Vs evaporation.

That would likely cause my daughter to have the biggest meltdown of all time! I think I'll try it this weekend! Just kidding. The pool is my inlaws and they wouldn't kick the kids out. Hell, they paid me to redo the deck around it so the kids wouldn't get splinters!

The lower line is a rail track, and the line above that is a road with 2 cars:

That's the track for the cog railway, right? Did you get any pictures of it?

I've never been a a pool with a spray, but it sure is nice to be on a city sidewalk where they have a cooling spray on a hot day. I've encountered them in various places and it can be a real relief -- walking the Vegas Strip outside in the middle of summer can be challenging, and hitting some cooling spray, yumm...

It also comes in handy in restaurant patios -- the last time I was in Palm Springs I plopped myself under one in 100+ weather.
