Marius, is that Cadillac Ranch? Some descriptions would be really neat.

Yes it is, I edited that in but I am not sure where the other pictures are from exactly. But the first one is a part of Route 66 that never has had tarmac.

Thanks, Marius, those small descriptions help me to know where these spots are. I can't imagine riding Route 66 across that narrow dirt road when either severe weather or a winter snow blows in!

Wow, S & H green stamps....
I love looking at all the pictures everyone posted. Marius, how many of you rode? Looks like a sizeable group which is always more fun.

We where 21 people on 18 Harleys and one car for luggage. Everyone from Norway. Looking forward to my next trip overseas.

Edit: By the way what are S&H green stamps?

That is the long version.

Thumbnail - when you spent money at a retail location, you would get these "stamps". The more you spent, the more you got. You would lick them and stick them in these 'collection' books.

They were attached to a place where you could trade the completed books in for "stuff", almost anything that could be bought in a retail store...

Sorry for the OT - To the OP and other posters, really cool photos. I live a little too far from RT 66 so I cannot add anything, but I am enjoying the views! Thank you for the thread!

Awesome pics! I grew up near Route 66 in CA.

A friend's brother from England did the route on a bicycle. Here's his blog:

PS--Cracks me up reading about green stamps. When I grew up our kitchen clock was from green stamps and I remember getting a basketball using the stamps when I was young (geez! I must be old as DIRT!)

Nice images of a quite famous road. :)
Traveling over it on a bike had to be a treat.

I am a huge 66 fan, love that road so much through Arizona.

If you look real close you can see my wife, and even closer you can see my dog:

As for the "green stamps," FamousBarr (bought by May Company) used to a version of green stamps called Eagle Stamps. I can remember my grandmother going nuts over these things as recent as the mid 1980's. That ought to give our Norwegian friend some idea of a timeline.

I am curious as to how you got your bikes over here, or if you just rented them when you got over here? It seems like it would be very expensive to ship motorcycles across the pond for a vacation?

ps- I still owe some more of Route 66, but I cannot seem to get the time to do much other than check in right now.
