My question is this, does the age of a lens matter once it is outside the warranty period? Will a lens, if not abused, with a datecode of US be the same as one with a UX? Thanks!!! Out of warranty, age is pretty much irrelevant compared to the amount of use. A lens used hard by a photojournalist will rack up more wear in a year than a 10 year old lens in the hands of an art photo hobbyist. The good news is thats a lens that likely to be used for gentler type of work.
