Doing bride and groom pictures at a bar... ideas?

So I'm shooting a wedding on Saturday, and as this is a college town, the couple wants to do some pictures between the ceremony and the reception at the campus and at a bar right next to campus. The bar is fine with it (it's summer, so not many kids at school, and we'll be there around 3 in the afternoon, so it won't be crowded).

I have some basic ideas of things I want to do, but would love to hear any creative suggestions others might have. Lighting will be available lighting (may do a few grainy grungy black and whites) and a small softbox on a light stand off camera, so lighting isn't really an issue. So far there's them from behind sitting at the bar, the bouquet on the bar, rings holding hands on the bar, the bride actually on the bar, glasses with the couple in the background... I guess I'm having a hard time being super creative with mixing the bar theme and the wedding theme. So any suggestions?

If they have a classic design juke box work that in. Make sure you get something with neon in the background, yes glowing logos are tacky but get into the spirit of it.

Unfortunately, no jukebox. They have DJ's during the busy times and just radio the rest of the time. I'll definitely have to ask which neon sign is their favorite though.

There was a post not too long ago here talking about doing an e shoot in a bar, I am sure someone can find it around somewhere that may give you some good ideas.

Well, there's always that shot of the bride standing next to the groom in the men's room using the urinal.

I see Lloyd didn't post his. :D

Ha! I would love to do that, but I'm not sure this couple is quite that adventurous.

You could try for an angle with the groom watching a game on the TV while the bride pours him a draft. Or vice versa... Will the whole wedding party be there, or just the B&G?

It's going to be just the bride and groom. We'll be pretty crunched for time as it is, so I can't imagine getting the whole wedding party together for it. The campus and bar is about a half hour from the chapel, and the reception hall (VFW) is back where the chapel is. Plus there will still be a few formals plus bride/bride and groom shots to take at the chapel before we even leave to go to the campus. I think that's the biggest reason I'm over thinking it.

Might want to visit the bar with a couple of stand ins and your camera. Do some test shots/previsualization and take notes.

That's not a bad idea. I suppose I could just take the pictures I took at the bar last week and sketch some ideas in.

I will be keeping a close eye on this thread. I also have a wedding to shoot at a bar/restaurant in the fall. I like the ideas so far.
