Not sure if you'd consider it a sport but ESPN covers it. My father in law who's 78 just won this event in Las Vegas over the weekend. It started with 3142 participants and went down to the final table of 9. He won $487,994 and a bracelet. I took 1500 pics over 4 days of him playing. He was down to $400 in chips at one point, but ended up with $9,000,000 in chips by the end. I used my 40D with 70-200 F4 IS, 50mm 1.8, Sigma 10-20, ISO1600 mostly. The first one is him showing me the $400 he had left and the second one was his reaction to the final hand.

Here's a couple more. My wife hugging him and my sister in-law with her hands up. Then the trophy and bracelet. I was surprised by the freedom I had to shoot.

My sister in law said the same thing. They didn't have the money pile. I don't know why. The bracelet was on the table but no pile of money.

"You know all that shooting I did really wore down my camera, now I'll have to save up for a (insert camera, 7D, 1D IV maybe?), and my 70-200mm got all scratched, so now I need to save up for a new 70-200mm f/2.8 IS II." ;)

He is sharing the money with the family. My problem is talking my wife into letting me have a little of our share for my hobby....... I'm sure she'll let me buy a lens or so.

Tell her that she will look more beautiful, goergeus and sexy in a new camera and a lens!

Tell her she can get herself that dream Louis Vitton handbag that will match your 7D+grip+70-200/2.8L II IS set.

If you look at the picture of my father-in-law clapping his hands, on his left is a tournament photographer walking away. Why would he walk away from the final hand? The sequence I took shows him not even looking.

There are all kinds of poker tournaments at casinos throughout the USA. All different price ranges of entry fees. This one was at the RIO ( I believe it's the home of the World Series of Poker) in Las Vegas and the entry fee was $1000. They have the World Series of Poker tournament in a couple of weeks that has a $10,000 entry fee. I was surprised as to how many and how large the poker rooms were. Maybe the size of as football field and they had maybe 8 rooms or more. My father-in-law plays a lot at Hard Rock in Tampa Florida. Plus they have a mobile home and travel a lot and he plays where ever he can.
