This morning I was covering the iPhone 4 madness and my camera strap broke, sending my 70-200 crashing into the concrete. It split into 2 pieces on impact and looks busted up. Im not sure if Canon can fix this time. I think it might be dead. Your thoughts???

An old calumet strap that was laying around the office and no one wanted.. I've been using it for 5 years.

As long as none of the elements are shattered, there is still hope. I'd see it as an opportunity to DIY.

Ouch... Did you give Canon a ring? If you feel like the repair price is too high I happen to be selling one. ;)

Duude, figure out what exact parts are broken, and get them through eBay! This doesn't seem like a very tricky fix, it seems like some cheap plastic broke (hopefully none of the circuitry).

Worst comes to worst (if repair costs exceed 75% of lens value), sell it here, and I will purchase it.

Nah, I didn't bother calling them yet. I had more assignments to shoot and didn't have the time to sit on hold. I'll give em a jingle on Monday.

Anyone have any idea how much something like this would cost to revive?

Get a quote from KEH.

My guess is that it will cost at least $250
