It's about a year old, not sure what generation it is but I think it's more like the iPhone 3G than the 3Gs.

I don't really need multi tasking, but all the little refinements might be nice. I really don't want a unified inbox though, can it be disabled?

It will be a free upgrade this time. So there is no real reason not to. We will not lose any features that I know of. We will only gain some. I will be doing mine as soon as I get around to it. I have a 2nd gen.

I upgraded my 3Gs with no issues and I have a lot of stuff loaded on it. I've been waiting to upgrade my daughters iPhone 3G because it might zap speed from it. I think we're in the same boat :)

I might bight the bullet tonight if no one answers how iOS4 does on slightly older models.

The list of features isn't very compelling for the iPod Touch. Still, I figure I should update, I just want to know if things slow down at all, and that it works ok.

In general I think staying up to date is good, things like security, stability, and general functionality are usually improved. I've had problems with some WiFi connections, the improved speel check would be nice (;)) , etc.

I upgraded my newer model, but the refurbish one I got from Woot won't even sync now. It's up to you, but I think there have been a lot of issues with the downloads.

Suzy, does the new model still run just as fast as before? I might do it in a few weeks.

Yes. I just got some new Apps today. The Skeeball one is really fun! I don't have the phone, just the itouch.

After about an hour of laying with my 2nd gen touch now with 4 installed.... It feels about the same speed as with os3.

Most of the new stuff I have found so far is in the settings panel.

Careful everyone! According to this article iOS4 is causing big time battery life issues. Apparently multitasking is a power drain? :-(
