Maybe i'll wait. The battery life isn't very impressive even on OS3.

I I have noticed a bit of a power drain. I would never call it "big time" But I did notice it. The phone may be worse as the cell radio is on all the time. But the touch is not that much more. But then again, Did you actually think the same device could do more, but not use more power?

Of course doing more will take more power, but it seems to be taking more power to do the same stuff. Could be the applications need to be modified to work well on OS4, or some app in the background working away doing nothing and using power.

I agree, Tim...I am happy with my iPhone 3G just as it is. Also, I bought a Mophie battery case for mine and that usually gives me three days of heavy use all total...the Mophie doubles the life of the iPhone battery.

A day later... I would say ios4 on a itouch is very definatley not a must have. There are only a few features I will use regularly. The folders is a great idea. But they are limited to 12 icons. And I like the Bluetooth volume control. - you more correctly adjust the volume that is broadcast. Not really adjust the headphones volume. You can set the headphones on max and run the volume from the touch. The rest I dont I will use too much. There are definatley other features just not to remarkable of ones.

If you dont do it now, you will have to sooner or later once App's only start supporting new OS's :(

All in good time...maybe Apple will address battery life by the time comes that one is "forced" to upgrade.

So far on my iPhone 3Gs I've seen no difference in battery performance. However, I don't let apps sit int he background all day long. When I set the phone down I clear all the apps. Maybe there are apps that draw more power than others like mail, safari, streaming...

Also Tim, if the touch is not a 3rd gen you will not get the multi tasking. The hardware does not support it. Only the 3rd gen touch will munti task.

I read that, but I don't know what gen mine is, or how to check. It's a year old.

Edit - just checked, it's 2nd gen.

Don't do it, then. My 2nd gen won't sync or restore now. I need to send it to Apple. My new 32GB one works great, but yes, drains the battery faster. I had to plug it in twice the other day.

I don't know if i'd bother with another iPod Touch, given what I use it for i'd look at a WiFi iPad, but at US$500 they're a bit expensive for something to check email and mess around with.

Tim,

The iPad will change forever how you approach the Internet. It is a true Internet appliance. It also is great as an eBook reader. And, it is perfect to showcase your wedding portfolio. I almost never use my PC at home anymore unless I am using PSCS4 to do photo edits. I keep the iPad by my recliner and grab it it when a commerical comes on the TV to do a quick check on email, catch the news, etc. I have taken on a one week trip in lieu of my laptop and it performed just fine...I never missed my laptop at all.

It would be a nice toy, but given how I use my iPod and they other machines I have around I don't think it's a must have for me. Plus I really don't like typing on virtual keyboards much.

That's my biggest hang up, Tim. I don't like virtual keyboards as well. I love my netbook. I bought a Toshiba 10.1 inch this year and it's not as fast as my 13.3 inch traveling laptop, but for $300, it's got everything I need. The picture quality is the only reason I'd consider the ipad. From what I've seen, my galleries look amazing on it. But I'm not ready to spend $700 on a toy. I'm thinking I'll need the 100L soon. My friend bought one for $850 at ACE this week. I'm ready to push the button on one.
