I have a stupid question regarding the 7D. In Full Auto & CA modes the viewfinder display will flash red, but in P, TV, etc the display will not flash red. Is this a custom set option or only in Full Auto & CA.

Also, the Grid display off, "tic tac toe" grid or several line grid. I can not change this also.

Thanks.

I am not sure what you are asking, but if you af confirm to flash red, you just set it and it will always happen. I think it is C.Fn III: 8

Thanks for the reply. I have this function set But my display only flashes red in Full Auto (green box) and CA mode. Not in P, TV, AV, etc.

Are you taking pictures, in different lighting conditions? I've noticed that the Red Flash happens when I'm taking pictures at night, but not during the day. In fact, the other night, I was taking moon pictures, and noticed it for the first time.

That depends upon the custom function setting. When in Auto, the red light only flashes when it's dark. In daylight, only black boxes will show where it's focusing.

It could also be that in green box and CA, you can't control focusing. You allways get all 19 points. Which, if they illuminate, makes it more visible than if you have just a single point active.

Is your shooting mode set to A1 Servo? If so then you will not get a focus confirmation when AF set on lens. C.Fn III -10 covers the focus display in viewfinder when in A1 Servo. You can get focus confirm if manually focusing.

Canon 7D, 40D, 1 - "L", 1 - almost L, 3 - primes, 3 speedlites, PW's and L358.

Olar;

Thanks, yes my camera is set to AI Servo and that the red flash and beep do not operate. I changed it and they come back.

Again, Thanks
