Best deal I can find is at BH for $285 after receiving the $25 Visa gift card.

Anything better out there?

Every time I see FS ads here at POTN for the 055xproB + 488RC2 combo, I am always too late. And I was thinking a new 055xprob + 498RC2 really isn't that much more and they are both 100% new.

yah no doubt. things in the FS section go fast that are in demand.

Im thinking the same thing at this point... minus well get them new.... and unfortunately i dont think there is any "real deal" to be had on brand new.

Since upgrading my gear I really feel I should get a quality tripod and not risk thousands worth of gear with a $100 tripod and head. I usually dont justify things with the cost of something..... but i just feel bad mounting a 5d with a 35L on a $100 tripod and head, lol.

Plus the more i get into macro work more im finding out how valuable a good tripod that will mount in all sorts of different ways really is.

A forum member just informed of a good deal at canoga. EXPIRES TOMORROW 6/30

055XPROB = $179.90
498RC2 = $121.94
Total = $301.84 (free s/h)
Manfrotto coupon code = $286.74 (-$15.10) B105609
Manfrotto Promotion = $261.4 (-$25.00 gift card)

Unfortunately I need to pay sales tax since I am in California so BH is still a slightly better deal for me. Plus there is 5% BCB on the 055xprob which helps a little.

I just got that outfit from Adorama and thy list the head for $130 but when I ordered it the guy said $120 and that is what I paid. Like a dummy, I forgot what day it was and ordered it on 07/01. Missed out on the $25 card. That is what happens when you retire, you forget time. (And a lot of other things)

Well I dropped the ball by not taking advantage of the promotion Manfrotto was running. I have been glued to the classifieds and craigslist with no luck. I am no longer an ebay member, so that's out of the question.

It looks like I am now going to have to pay full price. I know it's worth it, but I don't have much of an income right now and i'm frugal to begin with.
