A few pictures from last weekends event which was cut short following the tragic death of a highly talented young co-driver...

The weather was fantastic and the event was as ever, well organised and managed. British Rally Championship regulars, Jonny Greer, Alistair Fisher, Craig Breen and Keith Cronin were in attendance and quite a few WRC cars started the event. Competition was fierce in the modified section and right down through the classes.

1. Manus Kelly on the classic Knockalla stage

Thanks for taking the time out to have a look.

Hi Mikey,
I thought I had posted this morning ,but it's not here.
Some cracking wide shots and superb backdrops.
The blue scoob is lovely, but the Hetherington Escort is sublime, great use of foreground, and the car really pops.
I think I would have cropped the right side of the image to get rid of the van,and put the car less central.
Smashing series, thanks for posting, and great colours.

Thanks Chris, I can see that now, white M/Home sticks out like a sore thumb for sure :), I will try cropping that again to see how it looks. The weather was kind with lots of sunshine and that always makes a huge difference.

Thanks, Donegal is one of the most scenic counties in Ireland and there is always the opportunity for that type of shot

Great set of photo's,S11 subaru my favourite one.

Thanks Marky pleased with that one myself, I had a strange effect on the same corner with Jonny Greer's Evo - similar type of shot with an even more prominent rainbow effect appearing above the right hand side of the car.

Thanks KG, weather was wonderful for that weekend, Donegal scenery's not bad, would'nt be a patch on the Glens of Antrim though:lol:

Thanks Pete thats typical Irish summer time weather ok, I can imagine what it was like when you were up there Mist and Midges :). Knockalla and Atlantic Drive are stunning, Malin Head which is the most northerly point in Ireland, was included this year also and I've seen some brilliant pictures posted from that stage also. Sad loss indeed, talented & popular guy.

I think those stages look the most dramatic of any in the calender,as does Tour of Sperrins when I saw it on SKY.

Am thinking might organise a trip over to see what's occurring:D

Regards,
Pons

+1 Pete, you definitely would'nt regret the trip, get yourself up to Liverpool for one of Mr O'Leary's £10 specials to Belfast or City of Derry and you'd be here in no time, Knockalla hillclimb in early Sept, Dogleap rally early Aug, Ulster Rally late Aug, Donegal Harvest Stages Rally in Oct, prob cold enough then to qualify for a few hot Jameson's :) - you might even get time to take a few shots

Appreciate your comment Moose, some rallies you can manage this, other times its not possible depending on your location, I was fortunate to be able to check out the stages about a week in advance to pick my locations.

Thanks Wiz, I've started to try and do this a bit more recently and a few shots like this do add ambience imo.

Thanks for looking Chonzilla, I caught a few going wide on that corner, but liked this one best because he managed to kick up a lot of dust as well
