Not looking for anything specific here in terms of criticism, just fire away.

One light that I hate from my film days is tungsten with its horrible yellow casts. To me this is not the most suitable illumination to be drawing extra attention to, as I'm just having flashbacks.

I actually kinda like it. The blurred foreground kinda adds to the appeal for me. Nice shot.

Yea, I'm just not sure what to make of it. I'm not overly fond of this selective color thing--thus the title of the post--but it seemed a good way to rescue an otherwise bland photo that, yes, was a white balance nightmare. Thanks...and thanks to you, too, Scottdog for taking a look.

I sort of dig the shot, but am not really a fan of the blurred foreground.

Agreed. I feel it would be better with the foreground also in focus.

Blurred foreground...well, the camera was sitting on the ground as I didn't have a tripod. We do what we can:-)

Instead of 100% B/W, I would just desaturate it, but not completely. I (as in personal preference) would like that. The overall shot is very nice, however!

What about this one? Very quick PP, and I wouldn't want to look at it at 100% crop, but it does solve the blurred foreground problem of the OP. Serviceable?
