I own and truly love my 85mm f1.2L.

However, I do like to shoot documentary style at weddings, parties, etc, and of course the slow focus on the 85mm means I lose a lot. So I'm thinking of getting a 135mm f2L as well.

My question is to all those out there who already own both lens already is this...

Do you still use both enough to justify the investment ?

or do you finding you use one more than the other?

My assistant owns the 135 and I own the 85 II. I have been contemplating selling by 85 and getting the 135 and the 50 1.2 to replace the 50 1.4
It is really a very tough decision. During the ceremony the 135 is key when in a church but the 85 is the way to go for formals and early on in the reception. Once the room goes dark the 135 and 85 become close to useless even with the AF from a 1D III.
Truthfully I believe if you can afford it owning both is the best way to go, especially if you shoot other stuff besides weddings.

Well I would advise, if you really save your pennies cause its a lot'a dough but truly in a class all its own for candid work; pick up the 200 2L. I can usually, consistently hand hold it at 1/40 with 1/25 and even 1/15 not out of the question (depending on how still the subject is) which makes it a real killer in low light.

Its sharper than the 135 has less c/a and with IS smokes in low light when paired with a 5D, 5DII or 1DsMkIII.

Well it is apart of the "trinity"....I think the FL are different enough that you would use them as needed and find places where you can take some extra steps back to use your 135.
