This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new editing tricks.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture, re-sized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being re-sized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #295".

this game will end Wednesday, June 30th, at 10:00 pm EST.

here is an image from yesterday of one of my new English Setter pups (13 weeks old) relaxing pool side. I think more of a beach / resort / spa environment may be in order - anyway I leave it to the creative minds ;)

please re-size your entries to no more that 1024 pixels wide

awe cute :)

Hang'n out pool side in style.

First to make use of all the blues in the photo the pup is going to be transported into I transformed the towel from green to blue. Then w/ the magnetic lasso took pup from photo & put into new photo, some exposure/gama, bluring, erasing to try to match photo (should have added some noise to better match now that I look at it) I think the pup looks more comfy w/ the couple than in the plastic chair :D

My try...
USM (42, 0.25. 0)
masked towel to keep as is.
curve adjustment
flatten image
cloned out leaves on ground.
burned leaves at bottom of fence and green to the left of the dog's head.
"cleaned up" chair

Whoops. I should have read your "wish" for the re-image befoer I completed my failed attempt. So if you had wished the image to remain in the same surroundings, here is my attempt.

In Elements, selective levels and contrast, with dodge and burning, plus some cloning of leaves and marks. Then USM with more on the face than on the rest of the shot. If you had mentioned the dog's name I would have put in on the tag on the collar.
