Dear all,

my girlfriend posed for me and the pictures came out fabulous looking - I really love especially #1. Could you make them even better, please?

Are you asking for critique or for others to retouch them for you?

If the latter then you should definitely include links to the original (preferably RAW) files.

critique, unless someone wants to edit them. I have larger version on flickr, but I have yet to upload RAW's.

Thanks for any feedback though!

I'm not a big fan of the purple tint in the key light. It would work in the background but not so much on the subject.

I would love to have a go at editing #2 if you were to provide me with the RAW file. I'd of course send you and work that I would do.

Focus seems to be right in the photos, i.e. on her eyes. The lighting in her face is a bit harsh, though. Also the background especially in #1 is a bit distracting. The tint has been mentioned.

The last one has the worst lighting. The bright spot under her left eyes is VERY distracting. I do not care for the processing.

I do not like the pose or the lighting on the second one. The hand just comes out of nowhere. The highlights are blown out.

The first one is the best. I am not a fan of the post processing and the cropping.

Nice start though..Keep it up:)

The lighting is way too harsh for me and of course unflattering to your g/f. You might like to try a b/w conversion to see if that calms the weird colour casts and bleached out highlights down.

thanks for the response.

I felt creative with the magenta tone/tint/hue, but it seems to be universally disliked.

I went back, and redid #1 with different white balance, without split toning, and with different tonality in details I am posting #1 only - that is my preferred shot anyways, and I will edit the others later. What do you think? The out-of-the-camera picture is too orange, and I like the harsher-than-normal lighting/contrast. Am I over doing it?

This is the picture straight of the camera. She is lit too warm, IMO.

PhotoCupcake, I will be contacting you shortly with the raw file for #2 - have to figure out how to deliver it (do not own any FTP space).

Thanks for all your help - this is very helpful.

LIght is still too harsh, the sooc has the best skin tones. In the other ones she looks frozen, or perhaps worse, dead. #2 - The highlight on her nose, makes the nose disappear into her face. Perspective distortion is wicked, and the angle isn't very flattering, not to mention the open mouth pose. The light angle is pointed UP, there fore giving "monster" lighting.

Just the humble musings of a beginner...

Too much contrast. Details are lost both in blacks and highlights.

Please do. I'd still love to have a go at it.

There should be plenty of sites that offer you file uploads, like dropbox and megaupload.

This one looks good, but I would put a diffuser above her head to avoid the white overexposed areas.
