I got off work early so I went to my one of my favorite trainwatching spots to see what would come by. Ideally these would be better if I could shoot from the other side of the tracks, but that would be trespassing.
UP GP38-2 doing the afternoon switching. Martinez sits in the midst of several large oil refineries.
Putting sand to the rails for traction as the engineer puts the coals to it to push a long string of tank cars.
Capitol Corridor commuter easing into the Martinez Amtrak depot.
The west bound Zephyr makes an appearance as it heads toward it's final destination of Oakland. The train originates in Chicago.
Union Pacific GE C45AC-CTE leading a container train toward the Port of Oakland
I guess Hobo's don't have too many box cars to ride in anymore.
Bringing up the rear of the container train is a GE ES44AC. It is an unmanned helper unit.
The local swithcer looking the other direction (and right into the sun), long hood foward, the Geep is pulling a string of cars back to clear a switch.

I guess you could say it's payback for all the years I spent crewing Air Force cargo planes and having my picture taken several thousand times (especially at, but not limited to, RAF Mildenhall) by complete strangers!
