Looking for a an adapter without a grip. Saw the Manfrotto Adapter (external link) that could make it work. However, I need to confirm if it will be able to use a quick release with it? I have a 488RC2 (external link)head.

i think you might be a little confused. the adapter that you linked to is actually their version of an RC2 quick release plate with the holes for a hand strap. mouse over the image of the adapter and you can see the RC2 plate. you don't add the plate to their adapter; their adapter is an RC2 plate.

so yes, it should fit on your 488RC2 head just fine.

You can screw this to the camera

Then attach the rc2 plate to the hand strap; it's what I do.

thx again. Got the Camadapter plate today and installed it with a Markin Hand Strap. The adapter is great. Fits on the 488RC2 head just like OEM. Now I'm back to using a hand strap. Feels more secure and easier to hold the camera.

**Was able to hook up a Lump Loop Lanyard onto the Camadapter plate on the hand strap side.

go to a local camera store and grip your Rebel Xs and see how it feels. For me, a grip is a must for the Rebel Xs due to its small size.

really? hmm maybe i might go try it. I've thought about a grip before but i'm not sure if i really want the added size and bulkiness. Do you happen to have some images of your gripped xs?
