May 09, 2011 02:12 | #1716 for some reason I felt like seeing if I could put the 580EXII on top of the GF-1 - and it worked! I dunno, I thought it would require a proprietary flash made by Panasonic. Anyways I took it to the club Saturday night and here are some shots - it was pretty fun to use, although tricky. and really loved the compact size.

Nope, all with 5D2. Classic has much more noise and is a backup device. So what do you want to know ?

'"You can create some nice results with an off camera flash, but it's engineered and unrealistic. The only time I like working with a flash is when I'm catching someone elses go off, ala this one: http://a5.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/199747_201861903178971_100000654877520_620502_5044635_n.jpg"" What do you think? May 09, 2011 13:14 | #1721 I think off-camera is an unrealistic look as well. It has the potential to cast weird (and oftentimes unflattering) shadows on subjects, and makes them appear like they are in a box of some kind. This is personal preference of course but for club work I like to use ambient lighting, wide aperture, and the on-board flash as more of a fill-light, to only light up the important areas (such as faces). I come from the school of "you should not be able to tell a flash was used" photography. my 2 cents! raѕιdel ѕlιĸa f l i c k r

And for when I do I just approximate where the flash would be if it was on camera. Easier that way than juggling cables and STs and so on. But for the most part, I'll use what is there and leave the flash in my back pocket. I'd carry candles if I could. My stuff

Nightlife photography is one of a kind, perhaps the most artificial of them all. Light trails, strobes, 2nd curtain flash, it's all kinda 'fake', but it contributes to the general feel of clubs & nightlife in whole, which is all about fun & excitement. Just my 2 cents Facebook
