Btw - does anyone use a flash battery pack such as the Canon CP-E4 in clubs?? I am considering buying one for the recycle time and extended battery life... but worried it'll be a headache to carry on my person.

I always have spares but it's more the recharge time I'm wanting... 1D Mk III, 1D Mk IV, 16-35 2.8, 15mm 2.8, 70-200 2.8 II, 2 x 580EX

I always have spares but it's more the recharge time I'm wanting... is there any slim option that can attach to the cam or flash unit then? Lithiums are great... but terrible for a flash. They overheat because of rapid discharge, which happens with flashes. Eneloops are a much safer decision. T3 (1100D) - 18-55mm IS, 50mm 1.8, 55-250 IS

Eneloops are a much safer decision. I too agree with the Eneloops. I purchased the starter kit and one set of (4) AA batteries lasted at least 600 pictures before needing to be replaced. I didn't see long recycle times until the last 50 or so pictures. Then again, they were fresh out of the package without a recharge cycle at that point, so I had to run them down all the way. The only problem is the 10-hour recharge time. If you don't need them immediately then you'll be fine. Get the starter kit, it comes with 8-AA batteries and two AAA batteries, plus the cells for C and D. -Chris

I went the opposite. From Tamron 17-50 to Canon 10-22. But this depends what kind of shots you do.

But I'll never consider the 17-50 to be faster than a 10-22... How so? The apeture is 2.8 on the 17-50 and 3.5-4.5 on the 10-22. I can do low-light hand held and get decent results with the 17-50 vice the 10-22. If your'e using a flash it really doesn't matter though, it's a wash, but I do get better backgroudn blur with the 17--50 because of the extra stops. -Chris

I won't argue the sharpness of the 10-22 because it's a pretty darn sharp lens too. By saying 'faster', I was talking about the Focus Speed.

I use flash. And with either lens my favorite aperture is f/4.0 for the best DOF. thats good to hear, i been trying to figure out what f stop were reasonable. sometimes 2.8 is too shadow for some pics. thanks! ETTL all the way.
