 Only kidding, mate.

Very nice shots!

I've only just got round to uploading some of these to Flickr. I'm struggling with focusing quite a lot with my 40D (upgraded from 450D). Before post-processing, the images aren't sharp at all, and only get to an attractive level after resizing and sharpening.

when you guys are doing your "gigs" do you feel as if its work, or your just a dude jamming out and getting wasted like the rest of them or is your mentality more like "im the camera man, be chill but take this seriously and try to get amazing shots" or are you the kind of guy thats more like "i have a camera, im getting paid, get me some drinks, im drunk wyhooooo show me your cleavage girls!" haha id love to be the 2nd one. just wondering what mentality you guys have during a club shoot. if neither of them describe it please. im just curious.

I've been on both ends of the spectrum. As of lately most of the time I'm working, I am usually sober, kinda cranky, If I'm not drinkings then drunk people annoy me to no end. When I'm working for someone (usually a racist promoter) I have to play by their rules so it usually kills my creativity. Most promoters around here only want those passe shots of a jersey shore looking couples, plastering on a fake smile and standing in a awkward pose. lol I yearn for the day I can quit working for these some of these dbags and kindly inform them that real men don't wear Rhinestone. So generally I am counting the minutes till I get paid and can leave. How ever in the past when I was actually inspired and enthused to shoot, I'd have a blast, Most the bars/clubs I'd go to would give me open bar privileges so alcohol was never a problem. and I feel like when I am actually having a good time and try to get a picture, my excitement and energy passes on to the person I'm photographing; which translates into the picture. During those days I feel my work had much more emotion in them, but maybe not as technically clean. o as for " im drunk wyhooooo show me your cleavage girls" lol in my hay day I'd be able to average 2 maybe 3 topless girls a month he he, Chris will vouch on this one . Hopefully soon I'll find some sort of new inspiration and get my head back in the game.

When I am at a gig, I do take things seriously. Maybe a little too seriously. The thing with me is that if I start drinking, I do not want to stop and that's when the photos start to suffer. I know this first hand. In a club, there's so much going on that I have to concentrate on it all because I feel that I may miss something. I know that you are out there to have fun but with me, there's a lot of stuff going on in my head that I am not going to get into at the moment that interferes with me having an absolute blast. At my worst, I have left gigs just because I am not feeling it and that is not right, at least in my case. I find myself waiting for the night to be over so I can get paid and go home. There have been nights in which I "snap" out of it and do my job and have a great time. Just hasn't happened in a while:/

@twin i just like to drink a few get the buzz going and maybe have another quick one after that and throughout the night have another 1 or 2 when i dont feel anything anymore. just to get my mind out there. and i feel a drunk photog and drunk subject matter equals a good time (you get smiles, real smiles), and hey one thing leads to another.....;-)a.....and you get their number. get your mind out of the gutter BOI!

The manual is a fantastic place to start.
